- Plane: Cessna 172 (###TP?)
- Lesson: pattern work, landings
- Duration: 3 hours
Worked on pattern work and landings again. I was very tired today. I didn’t sleep well the last couple nights. I felt I was maybe coming down with a cold or something, I felt very out of it. It showed. My brain was very foggy.
I felt like this was my worst day so far. I honestly felt like I did half as good as I did the day before.
The airport was very busy. There were 4 airplanes in front of us on the hold short line. The busy airport didn’t bother me too much. It was just that I was tired, and my brain felt like it was honestly firing on only half it’s cylinders.
One of the other problems was also that this was the third plane I flew in 3 lessons. Switching planes is hard, because the gauges are in different locations. I spend too much time and energy looking for gauges. I would look down for the altitude or the tac, not even find it, and then half to look outside again. This is no way to fly an airplane. There’s too much to do when learning to fly in the pattern and learning to land, I can’t also be searching for gauges. If you’re going to learn to fly the pattern, and land a plane, I recommend trying to stick to the same plane. In the future when I’m proficient, I’m sure switching planes and seeing gauges right away will be much easier, but it sure isn’t now.
We did about five take off and landings. One of them was a go around.
